Shawn Riley, Drexel University
Title: Coordinator, Intramural Sports
Years in Current Position: 2
Years as a NIRSA Member: 4
Years in Collegiate Recreation: 4
Statement #1--Moving PIRSA Forward
In order to move PIRSA forward I would work to do these two things: 1) Create a membership fee for institutes to help create a financially stable Association and build our state workshop potential. This will help PIRSA become more flexible in the possible offerings for members. By creating a fee this will create revenue and also create a larger buy-in sense from institutes. 2) Create work teams in addition to the Extramural Work team to help build development opportunities for professional and student members.
Statement #2--What makes you the best candidate?
I believe that I can bring a new perspective to the leadership team. As a member of the Extramural Team I have worked to progress how things are viewed from both professional and student participants. Working towards the common goal of increasing the student experience will help move PIRSA forward, my work with the Extramural Team has been focused on this goal. Moving towards a central and singular tournament will help increase our networking capability among professional staff and the overall student experience for both officials and participants.I would bring the same ideas to the leadership team to help progress PIRSA as an Association and increase our state's ability to develop its professionals and students.
