Scott Lotze - Extramural Committee Chair
Title: Intramural Coordinator
Institution: Bucknell University
Education: Bachelor of Science Degree in Sport Management and a minor in coaching (2013 - SUNY Brockport)
Master of Science Degree in Recreation and Leisure Service Management (2015 - SUNY Brockport)
Campus Recreation Work Experience: Scott began his journey as an intramural official during his junior year at SUNY Brockport. He quickly gained credibility and worked his way up the ladder to eventually become a student building manager in his senior year. After earning his bachelor’s degree, Scott continued working with Brockport Campus Rec, where he was the Graduate Assistant for Club Sports and Intramurals for two years.
Once he completed his Master’s degree, Scott took a leap of faith and moved to South Carolina to become the new Assistant Director of Campus Recreation at Lander University in 2015. His primary responsibility was running a comprehensive intramural program, but he also assisted with all other facets within the recreation department.
After four years at Lander, Scott moved back up north and began working at Bucknell University in July of 2019. Scott’s primary responsibilities are running Bucknell’s intramural and late night programs, as well as assisting with anything club sport or fitness related within the recreation services department.
PIRSA / NIRSA Experience: Scott wanted to connect with other professionals throughout the state from the get-go, so he joined the PIRSA extramural committee last fall. He worked hard with other members throughout the state and helped execute a successful PIRSA Extramural Flag Football Tournament. Most recently, Scott was voted by his colleagues around the state to become the Extramural Chair through PIRSA for the next two years. He plans on providing more extramural tournaments and officials workshop opportunities during his term. Scott has also attended several NIRSA conferences, both at the regional and national level. Most notably, he had been accepted to be on the host committee for the Region I conference in Albany this year, but unfortunately, that event had to be postponed.
Other Work Experience / Interests: Scott works on the weekends during the semester for Bucknell Athletics helping out with game-day operations and even running the scoreboard at Bucknell football games. When he is not at work, Scott can be found working out at Cross Fit Lewisburg, attending Mets games at Citi Field with his brother, or relaxing at home with his girlfriend, Jill, and his two dogs, Riley (lab) and Kalliopy (goldendoodle).
Future Goals: Continue to work hard each and every day and eventually become a director within a collegiate recreation setting.
Fun Fact: In 1996, Scott got to hold the Olympic torch as it traveled across the country prior to the Atlanta Summer Olympics (picture below)
