Jimmy Stinsman - Student State Representative
Title: Graduate Assistant of Campus Recreation for Facilities & Operations
Institution: West Chester University
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Sport and Recreation Management with concentration in Governance and Policy (May 2020)
Master's Degree in Public Administration with a Certificate in Sport Management and Athletics (Anticipated May 2022)
Campus Recreation Work Experience: Mainly intramurals but also assisted with sport clubs, facilities and other administrative duties. Jimmy also completed his junior internship with the department of campus recreation and was the recipient of the Ted Feschuk Student Staff of the Year Memorial Award. As a part of City 6 extramurals, Jimmy officiated both flag football and softball & participated in co-rec basketball.
PIRSA / NIRSA Experience: Jimmy was elected as the 2019-2020 PIRSA Student State Representative and will continue in this role for the 2020-2021 academic year. As the student state rep, he assisted the Leadership team with many aspects of daily operations. Most notably, he helped execute a successful PIRSA Extramural Flag Football Tournament and also served as a presenter at the State Workshop. Jimmy was fortunate enough to also attend the 2019 NIRSA Regional Conference in Annapolis, Maryland and spoke about the current state of PIRSA to other members throughout the state.
Other Work Experience / Interests: Jimmy works as an Assistant Recreation Leader at Dorothy Emanuel Recreation Center for Philadelphia Parks and Rec & also serves as an Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at St. Joseph’s Preparatory High School. Recently, Jimmy concluded his senior internship at St. Joseph’s Prep this past spring, where he worked in the Athletic Department as the Athletics Intern. Jimmy also volunteers with PALS, a nonprofit organization which works to create immersive experiences for young adults with Down syndrome and their peers, where they have fun, grow as individuals and build transformative friendships.
Future Goals: Continuing to work his way up the campus recreation career ladder with hopes of becoming a Director in the future.
Fun Fact: Jimmy has participated in nineteen consecutive Mummer's parades in Philadelphia (2002 -2020).
